UCMS students claim honors in regional science competition

The Messenger 05.01.13 Five students from Union City Middle School claimed honors in the recent 2013 West Tennessee Regional Science and Engineering Fair. The event was held at Union University in Jackson. UCMS students Robert Ullrich and Braxton Waddell captured first-place honors in the Junior/Senior Teams division for their entry, “Does the Shape of a Building Affect Its Resistance to Earthquakes?” Pierce Kizer and Conner Terrell won second place in the Elementary Teams division for their project, “Homemade Batteries vs. Commercial Batteries.” UCMS student Audrey Adams won third-place honors in the Junior Biological division for her project, “Fertilizer Frenzy.” The UCMS students were among 25 winners chosen from among dozens of entries in the annual regional competition, according to a Union spokesman.
