Local police join sobriety effort

The Union City Police Department is joining other West Tennessee law enforcement agencies to increase enforcement efforts to ensure the safety of citizens across the area.
Sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols will be conducted between the hours of 6 p.m. May 24 and 3 a.m. May 25 on Memorial Day weekend.
Officers will concentrate their enforcement efforts on removing impaired drivers from the roadways. Officers will also be enforcing non-compliance with the seat belt law, as well as child restraint laws.
This event is funded by a grant from the Governor’s Highway Safety Office.
