One goal enough
for Westview team

Westview is struggling just a bit on offense, but the Chargers still picked up the soccer win with a 1-0 decision over Madison on Thursday.
Westview’s only goal came from Brandon Hauhe to get the Chargers back in the win column.
Connor Blanchard had seven saves on goal as the defense picked up the shutout. Westview is now 6-4 on the season.

The Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville men’s team and the Southeast Missouri State women’s team are the recipients of the 2012-13 Ohio Valley Conference tennis sportsmanship awards.
Voted on by the student-athletes and coaches of the respective sports, the team awards are bestowed upon the Conference squads deemed to have best exhibited the standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior as outlined by the OVC and NCAA.
Included in the areas for evaluation are the conduct of student-athletes, coaches, staff and administrators and fans.
The 2012-13 school year marks the eighth year the team sportsmanship honors have been awarded.
It marks the first time either program has won the award.

Music City Bowl
sets up date, time

Nashville’s annual postseason Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl has been set by ESPN for 2:15 p.m. Dec. 30 at LP Field.
The 2013 bowl game will mark the eighth match-up between the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in Nashville.
The bowl’s partnership with the ACC and SEC runs through this college football season.
ESPN has served as the bowl’s television partner since its inception in 1998 and will televise the game again this year.
