| By CHRIS MENEES Staff Reporter Union City police are seeking two suspects in the Sunday morning robbery of a West Main Street convenience store. Little General No. 8 at 302 West Main St. was robbed by an armed gunman about 9:40 a.m. A female clerk told police a black man with a handgun entered the store and told her to open the cash register. The man allegedly grabbed cash from the register drawer, then had the clerk get him two packs of Newport cigarettes and took her into the store’s office, according to a Union City Police Department report. While in the office, the intruder allegedly took two packs of Black & Mild cigars and the clerk’s purse before he fled. Police reported there was another individual standing outside the store that the clerk could not identify, but she told police the two individuals ran off together. As the robbery investigation continues today, police hope someone in the community might recognize the two suspects and be able to provide pertinent information. Union City police in-vestigator Derrick O’Dell said the suspect with the gun who entered the store is a black male with dread locks. He is between 5-feet-8 and 6-feet tall and has a medium complexion. He was wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark baggy pants and black shoes with a white heel. The second individual reportedly stood outside while the robbery took place. The suspects drove a dark-colored four-door vehicle, possibly a Dodge Charger or a Chrysler 300, according to O’Dell. Anyone who has information about the Little General store holdup is asked to contact Union City police at 885-1515 or Crime Stoppers at 885-TIPS (885-8477). Callers to Crime Stoppers are guaranteed anonymity and could earn cash rewards for tips which solve crimes. No injuries were reported in Sunday’s robbery.
