A Union City woman was charged with harassment after allegedly sending a threatening letter to her child’s school.
Constance Leann McKinney, 30, of 503 Nash St., Apt. 1, Union City, was arrested at 10:26 a.m. Friday at her home on a charge of harassment (written threat), according to a Union City Police Department report.
A police department school resource officer reported she was summoned about 8:25 a.m. Friday to Union City Elementary School, where school officials gave her a letter that was allegedly handwritten by Ms. McKinney and made threats to do bodily harm to teachers due to the Department of Children’s Services allegedly being called.
The letter was delivered by Ms. McKinney’s daughter, a student at the school, and it allegedly was not the first time she had sent threatening letters to the school, according to the report.
In addition to being charged, police said Ms. McKinney will be barred from all school property and functions.
She was transported to the Obion County Law Enforcement Complex after being arrested Friday.
