| By CHRIS MENEES Staff Reporter Police are investigating a weekend robbery at a Union City convenience store. Little General No. 8 at 302 West Main St. was robbed at mid-morning Sunday, police reported today. Police responded about 9:40 a.m. to a report that an armed robbery had just occurred at the store, according to a Union City Police Department report. A female store clerk told police an unknown black man with a handgun entered the store and told her to open the cash register. The man allegedly grabbed cash from the register drawer, then had the clerk get him two packs of Newport cigarettes and took her into the store’s office. While in the office, the intruder allegedly took two packs of Black & Mild cigars and the clerk’s purse before he fled the store. Police reported there was another individual standing outside the store that the clerk could not identify, but she told police the two individuals ran off together. No injuries were reported. The robbery remained under investigation at press time today.
