A Union City woman was arrested Thursday on a warrant from Kentucky after allegedly removing an electronic monitoring device from her ankle Wednesday night.
Courtney Ayla McNeal, 20, of 1714 High School Drive was taken into custody at 2:41 p.m. at her home on a warrant for probation violation from Fulton County, Ky., according to a Union City Police Department report.
Union City police responded late Wednesday night to Ms. McNeal’s apartment after receiving a report that her ankle bracelet for monitoring purposes had allegedly been tampered with. A Fulton County court official told the police department he had received two tamper alerts coming from the bracelet.
Union City police arrived at the apartment to find the door open, but it appeared no one was inside. An officer reported he saw the ankle bracelet lying on the kitchen table, along with a homeguard device.
Ms. McNeal returned while police were there and told police she had pulled the ankle bracelet off using butter, according to the report.
Fulton County authorities issued the warrant Wednesday, alleging Ms. McNeal committed second-degree escape and contempt of court by removing the electronic monitoring device and violated the terms of her home incarceration. It was a 14-day term of home incarceration following a misdemeanor conviction in Fulton County, according to the warrant.
