One driver was injured Wednesday morning when two vehicles collided at East Reelfoot Avenue and South Home Street in Union City.
The crash occurred about 7:50 a.m. when a 2004 Cadillac driven by Brenda Jean Dorian, 59, of 2984 Treece Road, Hornbeak, collided with a 2004 Chevy Cavalier driven by Treva Lynn Lewis, 60, of 3874 Sheppard Road, Union City, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Ms. Lewis was transported by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for treatment.
Ms. Dorian told police she was traveling east on East Reelfoot Avenue and she allegedly indicated the accident was her fault because she was on the phone and ran the red light at East Reelfoot Avenue and Home Street, resulting in the crash.
After Ms. Dorian’s vehicle struck Ms. Lewis’ car, it continued forward and struck a utility pole owned by the Union City Electric System. An electric system employee checked the pole and indicated there was no structural damage.
Ms. Lewis told police she was traveling south on Home Street and had a green light to proceed through the intersection at the time of the wreck. She sustained injuries to her arms, apparently caused by her car’s airbag deployment, and she complained of pain to her chin, according to the report.
Ms. Dorian was issued a citation for a red light violation, police reported.
