WC office on Aging/Dresden Senior Center news

The Weakley County Office on Aging/Dresden Senior Center recently hosted a volunteer breakfast for all the volunteers and advisory council members. This day was set aside to say a very special “thank you,” for all the vets do.
The center is getting ready for all the activities for the Dresden Iris Festival. The center will be hosting the baking contest on May 1. Entries will be taken from 8-9:45 a.m. and judging will begin at 10. Everyone is asked to bring all their goods. First, second and third place winners will be given in each category.
The center will also be hosting the Iris Festival Senior Citizens Luncheon at 12 noon on this day. Everyone is invited to attend. Sandra Klutts will be providing her special tenderloin that day.
At 2 p.m. the center will be accepting entries for the quilt/needlework show to be held on May 2-3. First, second and third place winners will be awarded for each category. Everyone is asked to bring their favorite quilts, old and new, hand-sewn, machine-sewn or needlepoint. For more information, call 364-5678.
The monthly dance will be held on April 25, 7-10 p.m. with the Larry Frye Band.
The center is excited to announce they are sponsoring a mini senior Olympics on May 9. Shuffleboard, ping pong, ladder ball, bean bag toss, horse shoes and walking will be offered.
The games will be held at the Dresden Senior Center. Walking and horse shoes will be held at the park behind the senior center. A picnic will also be held in the park with grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, with all the trimmings. First, second and third place winners will be awarded and will receive a gift.
Everyone is asked to call and register as soon as possible.
There is no charge for this event.
