UC man charged Posted: Wednesday, April 17, 2013 5:00 pm The Messenger, April 17, 2013 A Union City man has been charged in the alleged use of a stolen credit card at a local convenience store. Eric Wesley Whitby, 37, of 3904 Lindenwood Road was charged through a misdemeanor citation with fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, a Class A misdemeanor, according to a Union City Police Department report. The charge by Union City police was levied as the result of a joint investigation with the Troy Police Department, which has charged Whitby with theft under $500, according to police and General Sessions Court records. Police reported Whitby allegedly used a stolen credit card two times in Union City and allegedly attempted to use a stolen debit card one time. The incidents occurred Friday afternoon at Little General No. 8 at 302 West Main St. in Union City. The cards belonged to a 70-year-old Troy woman, according to the police report. Police said Whitby allegedly attempted to use a stolen debit card in the amount of $104.86, but the card was refused. Minutes later, he allegedly used a stolen credit card twice at the convenience store for the amounts of $104.86 and $154.71, for a total of $259.57 in illegal charges. |
