Eddie Suiter and Tory Reedy will be together on the basketball court one final time.
Only this time, they’ll be on opposing benches.
The Union City girls’ head coach and the player who helped lead the Lady Twisters to back-to-back state tournament trips will face off against each other in the West Tennessee Ridgecrest National Guard All-Star basketball game May 4 at Liberty Tech High School in Jackson.
The two will be joined by four other Obion County players — Brandi Goodman and Paige Hicks of Obion County Central as well as Taleeah Cross and Laken Haley of South Fulton.
In the boys’ game, Shaw Logan of Obion Central will be the lone county participant.
Reedy averaged nearly 13 points and 4.8 assists per game, helping the Lady Twisters to a school-record 32 wins and a Class 1A state tournament runner-up finish.
Goodman was a two-time All-State selection and 2013 Miss Basketball finalist. The University of Memphis signee averaged 22 points and 14 rebounds per game as a senior. She scored over 2,000 points in her career
Cross, the District 14A player of the year and Freed-Hardeman signee, averaged 17.7 points, six rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a senior. She scored 1,637 points and grabbed 603 rebounds in her career.
Haley scored 13 points and grabbed 4.5 rebounds a game as a senior for the Red Devilettes.
Logan capped off his prep career with 16.3 points and 3.6 assists per game.
Eddie Suiter will help coach the National Guard team, along with Tommy Cepparulo of Lexington and Tony Shutes from University School of Jackson. Both South Fulton participants will be on the Guard team
Reedy, Goodman and Hicks, as well as Teddy Vincent from Westview, will be on the Brooksie’s Barn team, which will be coached by Westview’s Sean Stephenson and Covington’s Dion Real.
The teams were selected by a coaches’ draft on Tuesday, which will result in some teammates playing against each other in addition to coaches being pitted against their players.
Other locally known players on Suiter’s squad will be Ashia Jones of Covington, a UT Martin commitment, and Shamone Pearson of Lake County. Stephenson’s squad will also feature Precious Dyson of Covington, Jasmine Whittemore of Gibson County and Briana Jones of Gleason.
