Skyhawk netters
shut out by EIU

The UT Martin tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to Eastern Illinois at Charleston High School Courts.
The match, originally scheduled to be a UT Martin home match on March 17 before rain forced a postponement, was the fifth contest in eight days for the Skyhawks (5-12, 4-3 Ohio Valley Conference).
UT Martin kept things close in the doubles competition but couldn’t break through. Johanie Van Zyl and Katie McCall nearly came away with a point at No. 2 before falling 8-7. The Skyhawks fell by 8-4 margins at both No. 1 and No. 3.
In singles play, Silva (6-4, 7-5 at No. 4) and Simic (6-2, 7-5 at No. 1) came the closest to posting victories.
The Skyhawks now close out the regular season this weekend with three matches in three days. After road matches at Murray State (Friday) and Belmont (Saturday), UT Martin will host Tennessee State for Senior Day on Sunday.
