Lady Chargers closest in loss to Central girls; Greenfield wins again

Westview’s girls had a few close matches with Obion Central on Tuesday but came up short in four of them, while the boys fared better.
The Chargers fared worse against Halls on Monday with the Tigers blanking Westview in both girls’ and boys’ play.
Greenfield girls, meanwhile, remained undefeated on the courts with a 6-1 match win over Huntingdon.
Westview vs. OC
Laura Ferrer, Natalie Hurst and Anja Osieki were the only girls to post wins against the Lady Rebels on Tuesday as Westview won three of the seven matches.
Ferrer and Hurst posted wins in the first and second spots in singles matches, Ferrer posting a 9-8 win over Marissa Howard and Hurst earning an 8-4 win over Lindsay Castellaw.
Osieki posted a 6-4 win over Peyton Baggett in the seventh spot for Westview. Jasmine Evans lost to Shelly Pate 8-5 at No. 3, and Jessica Evans lost to Mallory Conley 8-6 in the fourth spot.
Annabelle Cormia lost 9-7 to Brianna Stephenson in the fifth spot, and Chelsea Thweatt was beaten by Rebecca King 6-3 in the sixth spot.
Ethan Plunk lost 9-8 to Austin Riley, and Mason Capps lost by the same score to Mason Warren. Dan McDonough won 8-0 against Dakota Lewis, and Ethan Batchelor beat Jonathan Hopson 8-0. Tyler Darroch won his match 9-7 against Dalton Edmaiston to round out the boys’ singles.
The team of Ferrer and Jasmine Evans lost to Howard and Castellaw 8-2 at the top girls’ doubles spot, while the team of Evans and Evans lost 8-6 to Pate and Conley in the second spot. Thweatt and Osieki beat Carmen Hutchens and Ally Ruddle 6-3 in the third spot.
Plunk and McDonough won 9-7 against Riley and Nichols while Capps and Batchelor beat Warren and Lewis 8-1.

Westview vs. Halls
The Chargers got completely shut out by Halls on Monday.
Ferrer lost her match in a close 9-8 decision in the top seed, while Hurst lost 8-3 in the second spot.
Jasmine Evans and Jessica Evans lost their singles matches in the third and fourth spots by the same 8-0 score.
Cormia lost 8-4 in the fifth spot while Thweatt lost 8-1 and Osieki lost 8-1 in the seventh spot.
Plunk lost 8-5 in the boys’ top spot while Capps lost 8-1 in the second spot. Donough got beat 8-3 in the third spot, while Batchelor and Darroch each lost their singles matches 8-0.
In girls’ doubles, it was Ferrer and Hurst losing 8-5, while the team of Evans and Evans lost 8-2. The team of Thweatt and Cormia lost 8-2 in the third spot.
The team of Plunk and Capps lost 8-1 in boys’ doubles and the team of McDonough and Batchelor lost 8-3.

One Weakley County team did come out with a win on the tennis courts as Greenfield remained undefeated with a 6-1 win over Huntingdon.
Emily Allen lost to Sam Milam 8-6 in the first spot, while Kendell Cook took out Christina Shands 8-2 in the second spot.
Kalee Kesterson beat Jasmine Colon 8-2 for the third spot and Callie Croom defeated Jhury Gaskins 8-1 in the fourth spot. Lauren Rush beat Kaitlin Williams 8-3 to round out the singles action.
The team of Allen and Croom took down the team of Milam and Shands 8-1, while Cook and Kesterson defeated Gaskins and Colon 8-2.
