Each semester, the University of Tennessee at Martin recognizes outstanding faculty for excellence in teaching and scholarship.
Dr. Bryan Parsons, assistant professor of political science, was named the spring 2013 Featured Faculty Scholar during a ceremony recently in Paul Meek Library.
“It’s a great honor … I’m very appreciative,” Parsons said. “I’ve enjoyed working here so much.”
Parsons received a bachelor of science degree from Appalachian State University in 2005 and his Ph.D. in 2012 from the University of South Carolina.
Since joining the faculty at UT Martin three years ago, he has been active in public and university service and professional organizations.
He has also had several articles published.
“It really is a big deal,” said Dr. Jerald Ogg, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, explaining that the award rotates by college every semester and the recipient is voted on by deans.
