UTM’s Quiz Bowl slated for Saturday
The University of Tennessee at Martin will host a Quiz Bowl Saturday at the Boling University Center. Registration is set for 8 a.m. and competition begins at 9 a.m.
The Quiz Bowl, a competitive, academic, interscholastic activity, will feature 25 teams of four students each. Teams will compete in three divisions, elementary school, middle school and high school.
Students from Martin Middle, Sharon, Union City High School and Obion County High School are scheduled to participate.
Dr. Louis Glover, assistant professor of educational studies at UT Martin, will serve as director.
“This will be a double-elimination contest and we will include questions from all academic areas,” Glover said.
Questions included will be from literature, science, fine arts, history, geography, current events, sports and pop culture.
All contestants will receive a certificate of participation, while trophies will be awarded to each of the three divisional winners. In addition, trophies will be awarded to the grand champion and the highest-scoring team.
