We’ve had a busy week with spring break and all the children visiting the library.
Our story time this week was about the changing seasons just in time for spring. We encourage parents to bring their children to our Story Time each Thursday morning at 10:30.
Barbara Powell will be extending the adult basic crocheting class. The upcoming dates will be April 9 and 16 at 10 a.m. Those interested need to bring a crochet hook and a skein of yarn. We are also thinking about hosting a crochet club once a month. If interested please contact the library.
The Library Board of Trustees will be meeting April 11 at 5:15 p.m. in the library. The public is invited to attend.
We are starting to think about our summer reading program which will start June 1. We have a new shipment of young adult books just waiting to be checked out.
The book buzz will meet again on April 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the library. We encourage new members to join, stop by and check us out. When you stop by our library please ask us about “Firefly.” That is our new interlibrary loan system.
Do you have a child 5 years old or younger? Have you heard of the Governor’s Books from Birth Program? If you have a child 5 years old or younger and not enrolled in this program, you can access it from the website at https://sites.google.com/site/sharonpubliclibrary, click on “Governor’s Books from Birth,” icon and enroll your child.
Statistics show that only 65 percent of the children in Weakley County are enrolled in this program. We need all our children reading at an early age.
This is a free service provided by many sponsors in our area and across the State of Tennessee.
We appreciate the donations of the classics that we have added to our collection. Don’t forget that we continue to accept donations of paperback, hardcover books and DVDs.
We would like to thank the New Salem FCE Club for their recent donations.
We do accept memorials. This is another way to honor your loved one by placing a book in the library in memory of that person. Contact the library for more information.
We are getting ready for our big book sale that will be held during the city- wide yard sale on April 27.

The library continues to offer faxing and copying for a minimal fee.
We also offer free paper shredding and free Wi-Fi.
The library also has several different community items for sale, “The Last 100 Years of Sharon,” and Sharon 1997 annuals.
Don’t forget about our recycling. We are taking ink jet cartridges, old cell phones and laser jet cartridges for recycling.
The City of Sharon also has a trailer set up for recycling. Remember, this is for paper, cardboard, electronics and aluminum only.
