Lady Rebs back in ‘W’ column

Lady Rebs back in ‘W’ column

A sweep in doubles play and better depth in singles led to a win for the Obion Central girls.
The Rebel boys, meanwhile, scratched out a pair of singles wins but could not break into the team win column for the season.
OC claimed a 5-2 girls’ win, breaking a four-match losing skid, while the boys fell by that same score.
The Lady Rebels are now 3-5 on the season, and the OC boys drop to 0-7 for the season.
OC will host Gibson County today at 3:30.
Shelly Pate, Mallori Conley and Breanna Stephenson all came up with hard-fought wins at the bottom of the ladder in singles as Pate topped Jasmine Evans 8-5, Conley defeated Jessica Evans 8-6 and Stephenson outlasted Anabelle Cormia 9-7.
Marissa Howard and Lindsay Castellaw, who lost in singles play, rolled up a nice 8-2 win at the top doubles seed, while Conley and Pate nudged the Evans sisters 8-6.
In boys’ play, OC’s two wins came in dramatic style — both by a 9-8 score — as Austin Riley topped Ethan Plunk at No. 1 and Dakota Lewis held off Mason Capps at No. 3.
Central was just a few games away from winning the match as Dalton Edmaiston dropped a 9-7 decision to Tyler Darroch at No. 5 in singles while Riley and Jeremy Nichols fell 8-6 to Plunk and Dan McDonough.
