A driver apparently escaped injury early Monday when her car struck a utility pole in Fulton, causing a widespread power outage.
The accident occurred about 3:20 a.m. on West State Line, according to a Fulton Police Department press release.
Cathy Herane of Martin was traveling east on West State Line, coming off Chickasaw Drive from South Fulton, when her vehicle’s steering apparently failed. She told police she could not maneuver a curve and ran off the left side of the roadway, where her 1997 Chevrolet struck a utilty pole.
The vehicle came to rest in a yard at 1014 West State Line.
Police reported there was a power outage throughout the city due to the broken utility pole. The pole and power were restored around 10 a.m. Monday by the Fulton Electric System.
Police and fire department personnel also responded to the crash scene.
