2 charged after stop Posted: Tuesday, April 9, 2013 9:42 pm The Messenger, April 9, 2013 A driver and her passenger were charged with drug-related offenses following a traffic stop late Saturday night in Fulton. Laurie Rea, 40, of 603 North College St., Fulton, and Amy Jones, 41, a resident of Mill Creek Road near Troy, were arrested as the result of a traffic stop conducted by a Fulton police officer and a Fulton County, Ky., sheriff’s deputy. Fulton Police Chief Terry Powell said the two suspects were arrested after a traffic stop on Middle Road just before midnight Saturday. He said the 2003 Chevrolet was stopped after a police officer observed the driver was weaving across the centerline of the roadway. Ms. Rea, identified as the driver, was arrested on charges of no operator’s license and first-degree operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Powell reported in a Fulton Police Department news release that Ms. Rea allegedly told police she was under the influence of methamphetamine and hydrocodone. Her passenger, identified as Ms. Jones, was arrested on charges of public intoxication, drug paraphernalia, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and two counts of controlled substance, according to the news release. Both suspects were transported to the Fulton County Detention Center in Hickman, Ky. |
