Two fires at vacant houses, one on Public Wells Road and the other on Rowlett Road, are currently being investigated by the Martin Fire Department and the state fire marshal.
The fire on Public Wells Road was last Friday morning about 11, while the fire on Rowlett Road was Easter Sunday about 3:30 a.m.
“Both fires were fully involved when we arrived on the scenes,” Jamie Summers, Martin fire chief said.
Summers said both fires presented challenges for the fire department.
“The fire on Public Wells Road could have been very dangerous,” Summers said. The fire was next to Regency Pad, a company that makes mattress covers (pillow tops).
Visibility was tough at the fire on Rowlett Road. “It was hard to see because of the heavy fog,” Summers said.
The chief said no one was injured in either the Public Wells Road fire or the Rowlett Road fire.
Public Wells Road is off Highway 22 East, going toward Dresden and Rowlett Road is off Highway 45 South, going toward Sharon.
