Ashton Meyer had a good game by scoring two big goals for the Chargers. Brandon Stacks and Gian Garma each scored a goal against the Trojans. Garma had a pair of assists while Nic Fortner had one. Westview goal keeper Conner Blanchard keeps improving with each game as he had 10 saves against Dyersburg. Singles losses costly to UTM CLARKSVILLE — The UT Martin tennis team came close to securing another Ohio Valley Conference victory at Austin Peay, but the Lady Govs picked up a 4-3 win on Saturday afternoon. The Skyhawks (2-10, 1-1 OVC) gained the early momentum by sweeping the doubles point. Anna Marie Herbold and Ivon Simic earned an 8-0 victory at No. 1, while Johanie Van Zyl and Katie McCall tallied an 8-1 triumph at No. 2. Anna Winkelmann and Jessica Silva rounded out the sweep with an 8-4 win at No. 3. In singles play, UT Martin earned victories at No. 2 and No. 6. Herbold downed Austin Peay’s Ornella di Salvo 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2, while McCall chalked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Mary Theresa Kubek at No. 6. However, Austin Peay won the remaining four points, including a comeback win at No. 3 to clinch the victory. The Skyhawks will return to action today when they travel to Southeast Missouri.
