James Alton Reed, 80, of Hornbeak died April 1, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion, with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3 p.m. Saturday.
He was born Feb. 18, 1933, in Newbern, son of the late Otha and Ruby (Clanton) Reed and was a roofer.
He is survived by three daughters, Delilah Smith of Troy, Debbie Rowland of Springville and Teresa Adcock of St. Louis; two sons, James Reed of Joliet, Ill., and Jimmy Penrod of Brookfield, Ill.; his brother, Melvin Reed of Hornbeak; two sisters, Faye Roberts of Nevada and Joyce Murray of Addison, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Dudley Reed; his sister, Drucella Reed; and his great-grandchild.
