CF fundraiser planned Posted: Wednesday, April 3, 2013 5:00 pm The Messenger, April 3, 2013 Glo for a Cure is the theme of this year’s innovative twilight effort to raise fund to support research for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Registration will be April 12 at 6 p.m. at Union City First United Methodist Church at 420 East Main St. The route for runners of all ages will move from the church out onto East Main Street, move west to First Street and turn south to Jackson Street. Runners armed with creative means of “lighting up the town” will then circle Union City Middle School and head north on Taylor Street back to Main Street, where they will turn west and return to the church. Each runner will receive a Glo necklace and a T-shirt related to the event. A variety of implements that will help runners run with light will be on sale at registration and runners are encouraged to wear bright neon colors and to be creative and original in their attire for the event. The run will begin at sundown and the route will be protected as competitors move through the downtown area and back to the church. First, second and third place awards will be made in seven age divisions, with all funds raised going to CF research. Preregistration is $20 by Friday, with day-of registration fees at $25. Children who raise $25 in pledges and bring those funds to the event will earn a CF jump pass, a T-shirt and Glo wear. The jump pass will allow them to enjoy up to two hours worth of fun time in a jumper venue on the church property with adult supervision provided. |
