Walk of Hope events

Team Carter has scheduled a Walk of Hope Pageant April 13 at Woodland Mills Civic Center, located at 201 Cannon Moore Drive.
The door will open at 10 a.m. and the first pageant will begin at 11. Participants may register at the door. Registration fees are $25 for beauty only or $30 for beauty and side categories, including prettiest hair, prettiest smile, prettiest eyes, best dressed and most photogenic.

The Miss Hope for a Cure, sponsored by the team from First Citizens National Bank and White & Associates Insurance, will be held April 13 at Eddie Cox Senior Center, located at 622 South Depot St. in Union City.
Doors will open at noon and the first age group will begin at 1 p.m. Age divisions will not begin before their scheduled start times.
Registration fees are $30 if paid by April 10 and $40 if registering at the door. Late entries must sign in 30 minutes prior to their category. The entry fee includes beauty, prettiest eyes, prettiest hair, prettiest smile and best personality.

Employees of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City are making a “Quilt of Hope” to honor and remember loved ones who have lost their battle with cancer. They are asking residents of Obion County to assist in this effort.
For $10, supporters may purchase a 6-inch by 6-inch square that will be embroidered with the name of a loved one.
Donations will be accepted through April 15. Checks should be made payable to Hometown Walk of Hope, with “quilt of hope” in the memo line. Donations may be delivered to Lorraine Beachum at Health Quest at 709 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City or may be mailed to her there, along with a form that contains information about the person being memorialized on the quilt. The forms are also available from Mrs. Beachum, who may be contacted at 884-0110.
Members of Team Friends Walk of Hope are selling tickets for $5 or five for $20 for a drawing set for May 4. A Char Broil infra red commercial grade gas grill will be awarded.
The winner does not have to be present.

Curves Community Walk of Hope team is selling spiralbound, washable cover cookbooks, featuring 67 pages of recipes in nine categories from 50 contributors. The price is $12. Call 885-3330 or 335-0483 or go by Curves at 1433 South First St. in the Reelfoot Shopping Center to puchase a cookbook.
Sullivan Dentistry and Health Quest’s Walk of Hope 5K and 10K will be April 20, with registration at 7:45 a.m. at Union City High School. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Registration is $15 in advance by April 13 and $20 on race day. Checks may be made payable to Walk of Hope. Prizes will be awarded for first through third places in all age brackets.
Luminaries will also be available for purchase for $5 to honor those fighting cancer or to memorialize those who have lost the battle.
