Generals to return to Cherry Mansion Posted: Tuesday, April 2, 2013 8:00 pm SAVANNAH — The Hardin County Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the Generals Breakfast at Cherry Mansion Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. on the lawn of the historic home in Savannah. Cherry Mansion came of note during the Civil War when Gen. Ulysses S. Grant made his headquarters at the home during the Battle of Shiloh. Tickets for the event are $10 and include a continental breakfast, a program by the attending Generals and a tour of Cherry Mansion. “This year we have not only invited Generals from the North, but also the South. We like the idea of offering attendees a special twist to this year’s event,” said tourism director Rachel Baker. Ms. Baker said last year’s event during the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh was a great success and they had already received calls regarding this year. Public tours of Cherry Mansion will begin at noon on Saturday and are being offered in concurrence with the annual events at Shiloh National Military Park during the anniversary of the battle. Tickets are available now by calling the Tennessee River Museum at (731) 925-8181 or emailing rachel@tourhardincounty.org. Published in The Messenger 4.2.13 , |
