The residents brought in summer with a huge party. We celebrated with a splish, splash theme, including beach ball decorations hung from the ceiling and lots of fun music playing overhead.
We started the day off with beach ball blowout. This game included our giant parachute and multiple balls being lofted up and down. Residents even took turns going under the parachute and racing back out.
That afternoon our summer kickoff [arty began.
The tables were covered in yellow with sand pail centerpieces and lots of balloons. The pool party plates were filled with watermelon and cantaloupe.
For dessert, the residents enjoyed homemade ice cream. They had three different flavors, including vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. Everyone had a great time.
Last week’s cover card winners were Sue Bailey, Barry Flowers, Dorothy Larson, Doris Bradberry, Mary Pinkston and Mildred Turner. Each of these lucky winners received $1 for completing their cards first.
On Thursday’s one-line Bingo, everyone wins. Last week’s prize was a selection from the snack bin. It is filled with a wide assortment of goodies to suit everyone’s taste.
The residents had a wonderful time competing in the sports events. The winner of archery was Ray Crowell with 21 points and Bobby Bynum in second place with 16 points. These two gentlemen were also the winners of the discus launch as well.
Miniature bowling was a great time with many participants involved. The winner was Linda Turner with 38 points and, right behind her was Ray Crowell with 37.  Vivian Loveless took first place honors in penny ante with 22 points and Bobby Bynum was in second with 19. Congratulations to all our winners.
Other activities the residents enjoyed last week included painting fingernails, Wii time and “Tell Me All about It.”
The ladies can get their nails painted every Monday afternoon in the activity room.
Wii time is always fun and the residents enjoyed snacks afterwards.
“Tell Me All about it,” was held on the front porch and the residents discussed all their favorite memories.
The residents have been treated with many wonderful musical performances. Gary Mitchell performed gospel favorites Monday night. The residents love his voice. Martha Hayes and Friends had a wonderful performance. The residents are always thrilled to have them and brag about them for days.
Bill Brewer and friends filled our Saturday afternoon with beautiful music displaying his talented voice.
Each one of you brightened our facility by sharing your talent.
Macedonia Church of Christ, Liberty Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church have been so kind to provide Sunday morning services for our residents each week.
Bible Union Baptist Church led the residents in Wednesday evening worship and Adams Chapel Baptist Church provided a Sunday afternoon program. Your kindness is very much appreciated and our residents are so thankful for the worship services you provide each week.
