Since 1982, J.J’s Quick Stop, located on Main Street in Martin, has filled the needs of countless community members. Some customers are from across the county, while others span the region.
The convenience store was recycled from an auto repair shop with the help of friends. With the assistance of the owners of Greenfield IGA, the business acquired coolers, shelves and food equipment. Paul Stewart of Gleason furnished Exxon gas. From there, the story continues with the family-owned business.
J.J.’s Quick Stop became the only U-Haul rental facility in the county  in May 1996.
The family-owned business was lauded Tuesday evening during the annual President’s Banquet hosted by the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce.
J.J’s Quick Stop earned the title of Business of the Year for 2012 during the dinner, which was held in the University Center ballroom on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Community support from the family-owned and operated business includes fundraising for Miss Rodeo Roundup; St. Jude, with matching funds of approximately $1,300 in 2012; Red Fern Animal Shelter; Relay for Life; and WLJT-TV.
Memberships the business supports include Martin Rotary Club; Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association; UTM Rodeo Booster Club; Weakley County Chamber of Commerce; Martin Business Association and Martin Beautiful Committee.
J.J.’s Quick Stop was opened three decades ago by Jimmy Jones and is still operated by his brothers and sisters. Jill Jones Dinning, Jimmy Jones, Judy Jones Snider, Jacki Jones Pierce and Jeff Jones are the children of property owner Audrey Roberts.
Not only is the business celebrating its designation as 2012 Business of the Year, J.J.s Quick Stop will also celebrate its 30th anniversary in business this year.
