Briar Patch Flowers & Gifts opens in downtown Troy Posted: Monday, March 29, 2010 11:08 am The Messenger 03.29.10 Business is “blooming” for Deica and Brad Disney. They have opened Briar Patch Flowers & Gifts at 108 North College St. in Troy, the location of the former Prather’s Flowers and Gifts. The name of the business originates from the owner’s having played with a brother and cousins in briar patches on the family farm just north of Troy as a child. The retail florist and gift shop specializes in unique fresh and silk floral arrangements for special occasions and sympathy needs. Live plants are available at all times and the shop features an updated and modern gift line, with new products arriving daily. Briar Patch will deliver wedding party flowers to wedding sites or clients may choose to save money by picking up their flowers at the shop. Wedding equipment is also available for rental. Custom corsages and boutonnieres are available in fresh or silk flowers, as well as flowerless corsages. There is no delivery fee inside the Troy city limits and currently no delivery fee to funeral homes in Obion County. Pallbearers’ boutonnieres are provided free with the purchase of casket pall flowers. Gift items include the Willow Tree line, Wood Wick candles, sympathy gifts, teacher gifts, serving ware, picture frames, wind chimes, wreaths, tart warmers, balloons and custom handmade jewelry — which is created at the shop by Mrs. Disney, who specializes in copper and sterling silver metals. Gift baskets, snack baskets and fruit baskets are also available for delivery. Briar Patch’s staff can also decorate homes and businesses — indoors or outdoors — for holidays or any special occasions. The staff also includes LaVeda Wyatt and Dana Pitts. Briar Patch’s No. 1 priority is its customers, according to Mrs. Disney. “From a secret pal gift to sympathy flowers to a bridal bouquet, we want our customers to be satisfied with their purchase and experience,” she said. Briar Patch Flowers & Gifts is open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m.-noon and is closed Sundays.
