Red Devil Boosters
to meet Tuesday

The South Fulton High School Athletic Booster Club will be meeting on Tuesday night in the school’s library.
Discussion during the meeting, which is set to begin at 6, will include a report on the group’s Obion County Fair concession stand as well as plans for the 2009-10 school year and the normal business of the club.
All members and prospective members are encouraged to attend, according to a club spokesman.

Soybean Festival 5K
slated for Sept. 12

The 2009 Tennessee Soybean Festival 5K road race, 5K walk and one-mile kids’ run are all scheduled for Sept. 12.
Entry fee for the 5K run/walk is $10 in advance and $15 on race day, while the charge to take part in kids’ run is $8.
All registered entrants will recieve a T-shirt and trophies and ribbons will be handed out in various age groups.
The race will begin at the Martin Recreation Complex softball parking area with the kids’ run starting at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K run/walk slated to get under way at 8:15.
Registration forms are available at Ken-Tenn Sports and Sideline Physical Therapy or they can be obtained by calling Bill Austin at 587-9153.

USJ, Trinity Christian
get ‘public’ penalties

The punishments dealt out to the football programs of private schools Trinity Christian Academy and the University School of Jackson were made public on Tuesday.
Both teams were fined $250 for an incident that took place after Friday’s game between the two schools.
Each school also had two players ejected during the melee and one of TCA’s players was tossed during the contest.
As a result of the ejections, USJ will be without Preston Overbey and Dusty Bright during their district opener with Fayette Academy this week.
Trinity Christian will be missing Austin Whitsitt, Dusty Helton and Dylan Yates when it takes on Manassas in non-district play on Friday.

Weekly Pop scramble
decided on scorecard

Poplar Meadows Country Club held its weekly scramble Wednesday with the winning team shooting 9-under par.
The winning team, in a scorecard playoff, included Rodger Tanner, Adam Reaves, Matt Russell, Bobby Russell, Chad Snider and Jere Baldridge.
Also shooting 9-under par was the team of Cliff Walker, Gary Gill, Amos Davis, Jim Baker, Jay Bowen and Tiger Haag.
The weekly scramble begins at 5:30 p.m. each week. The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. The fee includes dinner.
Anyone interested in participating should call 885-3650 by 2 p.m. Wednesday.
