Peggy Baca, 76, of San Antonio died May 2, 2008, in San Antonio. She was a former resident of Union City.
A memorial service is planned for Monday at 10 a.m. at Medical Center Baptist Church in San Antonio. A graveside service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Mission Park North Funeral Home in San Antonio is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to Medical Center Baptist Church.
She was born Nov. 5, 1931, in Union City, daughter of the late Clyde and Gussie (James) Burcham. As a child, she lived with her mother and stepfather, John King, a career Army veteran, on many army posts, returning to Union City when she was a teenager. She graduated from Union City High School and Mercy School of Nursing in Janesville, Wisc., where she became a registered nurse.
For 20 years after her marriage to Ed Baca Sr., she lived throughout this country and in Europe as an Air Force wife. The couple, who were married for 54 years, retired to San Antonio in 1970. She was an active member of Medical Center Baptist Church and enjoyed travel and family activities.
Survivors also include her son, Ed “Skip” Baca Jr; her grandchildren, Allison Baca, Kristen Baca, Michael John Baca II and Matthew Jacob Baca; her brother, Jack King; and her sister, Barbara Neindorf.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael John Baca.
