Dr. Carlton H. Myers Sr., 83, of Pine Mountain, Ga., died March 23, 2008, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga. He had been a veterinarian in Fulton.
Services were at Cox Funeral Home in Hamilton, Ga., with burial following at Rehobeth Baptist Church cemetery near Americus, Ga.
The family requests that memorials be made to LaGrange Hospice.
He was born June 20, 1924, in Americus, son of the late James Frank and Mary E. (Givan) Myers. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University in Alabama in 1947 and had also practiced in Americus, Paxton, Ill., Gifford, Ill., and Columbus, Ga., before retiring in 1979. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II and earned the rank of first lieutenant.
He was a member of Pine Mountain First United Methodist Church and the Columbus Veterinary Association. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia (Belcher) Myers; two sons, Carlton H. “Buddy” Myers Jr. of Houston and James F. Myers of Pine Mountain; two daughters, Nan Fosbinder of Houston and Nora Twitty of Pine Mountain; his sister, Mary Lou Hunter of Waycross, Ga.; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
