Neva Maynard
Mrs. Neva Maynard, age 90, of South Fulton, died Saturday Sept. 19, 2020 at The Waters in Union City. Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery near Dukedom. Mrs. Maynard was born May 21, 1930 in Weakley County to the late D.J. and Mary Frances Milan Jones. She was a graduate of South Fulton High School and was a member of the Smith Street Church of Christ. After marrying her husband, Charles, she traveled with him for 20 years, as he served in the U.S. military. After his retirement, the couple returned to South Fulton for her postal career and the family farming operation. She retired from the U.S. Postal service where she worked as a rural mail carrier for many years. She is survived by three daughters, Susan Maynard Lee (Robert) of South Fulton, Edith Maynard Redish of Chattanooga, and Deborah Maynard Merritt of Jackson; four grandchildren, Lisa Lee Bivens (Mike) of South Fulton, James Lee (Christy) of Union City, Cliff Redish of Glen Springs, Colorado, and Jake Redish of Denver, Colorado; one granddaughter-in-law, Emily Merritt of Memphis; three great-grandchildren, Bubba Murray and Madelyn Hogan, both of South Fulton, and Lesley Jones Murray of Union City; and five great-great-grandchildren, Brylee Jones and Paislee Jones, both of Union City, Georgia Pitts, Holden Murray, and Darcy Murray, all of South Fulton; and one sister, Margie Nell Burlison of Sheffield, Alabama. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Maynard on Oct. 9, 2013; and a grandson, Brett Merritt on Dec. 22, 2019.
