Verna Murphy

Mrs. Verna Mae Murphy, 88, a resident of Union City, died April 17, 2026 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of cremation services.
Mrs. Murphy was born on April 3, 1938, in Wheeler, Ill., to the late Charles Ralph and Florence Hannah (Wands) French. She worked as a District Manager for H & R Block. On Aug. 1, 1972, she married Harold Murphy.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold Murphy of Union city; a daughter, Amy Brown and husband, Tony, of Rives; son, Ranny Trainor and wife, Marcia, of Springfield; stepson, Scott Murphy and wife, Jackie, of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandsons, Nathan Brown and wife, Katie, of Chattanooga and Ryan Murphy and wife, Abbi, of Kansas City; two granddaughters, Tabitha Brown of Chattanooga and Megan Short and husband, Patric, of Venus, Texas; great-grandson, Lincoln Brown of Chattanooga; and her brother, Charles French and wife, Sandy, of Lowell, Ind.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Garold “Frenchie” French.
