Splash Pad Opens

SPLASH PAD OPENS — RaChelle Tharpes, 8-year-old daughter of Charity Pinkston and DeAnte Tharpes, both of Mayfield, Ky., leaped over a water-spitting frog at Union City’s new splash pad on Sunswept Drive Wednesday morning. She was in Union City visiting her cousin, 2-year-old Kayzlee Long (not pictured), daughter of Casidy Connell of Union City and Damonte Long of Nashville, when the splash pad officially opened to the public. They were the first two children let in the gate by parks and recreation director Ken Morris. There is no charge to use the splash pad, which is open seven days a week from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. All children younger than age 14 must be supervised.
