Janice Farmer
Janice Farmer, 78, of the Shawtown community went home to be with the Lord 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Graveside services were to be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy. Brother Robert Johnson and Brother Eric Burress were to officiate.
Pallbearers were to be Chance Farmer, Mark Guess, Cole Guess, Brock Grisham, Gerald Scarbrough and Matthew Hooks.
There was no visitation held, and friends were asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was born Sept. 6, 1941, in Hickman, Ky., daughter of the late L.A. and Mavis (Mansfield) Scarbrough. She married Thomas Farmer on Jan. 9, 1965. He survives.
She retired as a department manager from Walmart in Union City and was a member of Hornbeak Baptist Church.
She is also survived by two daughters, Regina Misner (Tim) of Syracuse, N.Y., and Tonya Stout (Tim Kirby) of Springfield; five grandchildren, Chance Farmer of Martin, Trace Davis of Ashland City and Cole Guess, Morgan Grisham and Brock Grisham, all of Union City; two brothers, Gerald Scarbrough (June) and Richard Scarbrough, both of Union City; two stepsisters, Cheryl Jones of Hornbeak and Kim Johnson (Darren) of Union City; two stepbrothers, Randy McClure of Water Valley, Ky., and Kevin McClure (Lisa) of Martin; and her son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Mark and Penne Guess of Union City.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kelly Farmer Guess; one son, Charlie Ray; two brothers, Levis Scarbrough and Ray Scarbrough; and her stepmother, Beulah Scarbrough.
