PROTECTING AND SERVING
PROTECTING AND SERVING — Obion County sheriff’s deputy Danny Evans carried a box of canned food to an awaiting trailer amid rain Friday morning as he helped during the fourth annual “Blue Lights and Banks” in front of the Obion County Courthouse in downtown Union City. The Chimes for Charity event was a cooperative effort of the Obion County Sheriff’s Office, Union City Police Department and local banks, which all had staff on site to accept donations of non-perishable food, toys and cash to help those in need this Christmas. Chimes is in its 85th year of providing food, clothing and toys to less fortunate families and individuals across Obion County during the holiday season. Police and sheriff’s deputies are also conducting a “Pack the Patrol Car” drive for Chimes and will have officers set up Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of Walmart Supercenter and E.W. James & Sons Supermarket in Union City. Items may also be dropped off at Union City’s police station on Harrison Street or at the sheriff’s office on Law Lane in Union City.
