PUTTING UP A FIGHT — Union City’s Zoe Cagle returns a shot to Signal Mountain’s Sophie Bruce during the No. 3 seed singles match in the TSSAA Small Class State Tournament on Tuesday afternoon in Murfreesboro. After dropping the first set 6-4, Cagle battled back for a 6-2 win in the second set and led in the third before Bruce came back for another 6-4 win. That outcome gave the Lady Eagles a 4-1 win, putting Signal Mountain in the state championship match today and sending the Lady Tornadoes home. UC ends its season with a 4-1 record.
