Bobby Glisson
Mr. Bobby Gene Glisson, age 93, of South Fulton passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at The Arbors at Etheridge House in Union City.
He was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Graves County, Ky., to the late Elton Lloyd “Red” Glisson and Lorene Batts Glisson.
Bobby was a faithful and longtime member of McConnell Baptist Church and proudly served as a veteran of the United States Army. He dedicated 37 years of service to Reynolds Brothers before retiring. In retirement, Bobby enjoyed being a member of the McDonald’s Coffee Club, where he cherished time spent with friends and fellow community members. He also had a passion for tinkering with old lawn mowers and various other projects, always enjoying the opportunity to work with his hands and bring things back to life.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jo Annita Johnson Glisson, whom he married on Nov. 5, 1975; two sons, Ricky (Mary) Glisson of South Fulton and Mitchell (Lee) Glisson of South Fulton; a daughter, Tammie Sue (BJ) Adams of Murray, Ky.; three stepdaughters, Teri Jones Reynolds of Martin, Tami Jones (Ronald) Kooch of Maryville and Tina Jones (Shane) Hill of South Fulton; 10 grandchildren, Kevin (Amber) Whitten of Martin, Keri (Jacob) Currin of South Fulton, Erin Adams of Murray, Ky., Amanda Adams (Graham Snider) of Florida, Zack (Brittany) Reynolds of Lexington, S.C., Jake (Caroline) Reynolds of Martin, Andrea Kooch (Austin) Kaman of Knoxville, Alex (Samantha) Gallien of Martin, Audri (Juan) Mendez Vazquez of Union City and Avery Hill of South Fulton; 10 great-grandchildren, Reece Whitten and Mason Whitten, both of Martin; Addison Gray, Avery Gray, and Oliver Currin, all of South Fulton; Lacayon Snider, Zaelor Snider and Felicity Snider of Florida; Josie Claire Reynolds of Martin and Roman Gallien of Martin; a sister, Jane Alford of Dukedom; a niece and three nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Walker; and a brother, Jimmy Glisson.
Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Gene Glisson will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, at Hornbeak Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Pilot Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. Thursday until the hour of service.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Arbors, as well as to the special friends he has made there, for the kindness, care and companionship they have shared with him.
