Shirley Rhodes
Shirley Jane Boulton Rhodes, age 85 of Rives passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, at her home surrounded by family.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with her son, Bro. John Rhodes officiating assisted by Bro. Truitt Cockrell. Burial followed in West Hill Cemetery in Rives.
Visitation was Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Mrs. Rhodes was born in Fulton on April 12, 1941, to the late John Boulton and the late Laura Mae Pickering Boulton. She married Mr. Paul Dean Rhodes on Jan. 28, 1961. He preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1998. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rives. Mrs. Rhodes was a caretaker throughout her whole life.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Gayle Rhodes of Missouri and David and LaDonna Rhodes of Union City; her four daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Phil Caldwell of Union City, Debbie and Doug DeVault of Texas, Donna and Mike Hardy of Union City and Jodie and Lee Wisdom of Rives; 13 grandchildren, Chris (Katie) Rhodes, Kayla (Nathan) White, Ashley (Devin) Tait, Nicole DeVault, Shawn DeVault, Austin (Aura) Rhodes, Josh (Tesa) Rhodes, Katelyn Rhodes, Isaac Hardy, Becca (Ricky) Hempel, Roy Wisdom, Rachel (Randy Florey) Widsom and Leah Wisdom; 16 great-grandchildren, Addison, Bailey, Ryker, Nora, Hudson, Sara, Emma, Hailey, Amelia, Tyson, Anthony, Axel, Naomi, Bejamin, Dean and Jasper; and one great-grandchild on the way, baby girl Hempel.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by four sisters, Rachel Moehing, Joyce Bonee, Virginia Boulton and Helen Boulton.
