CELEBRATING SERVICE — Samburg Tourism chairman Ed Mayberry (right) spoke with Reelfoot Lake State Park interpretive ranger Madlyn Cox of Tiptonville during a bald eagle presentation at the Samburg Memorial Day event Saturday evening at Spicer Park. Col. Carl Mills reviewed the Declaration of Independence for the annual program. Veterans in attendance, many of whom were treated to a meal at The Boat House thanks to Samburg Tourism, introduced themselves with their name and branch of service and were presented with coins from the Tennessee Army National Guard, as well as certificates from Mayberry and Samburg Mayor Tim “Timbo” Smith. Tucker Pounds closed out the ceremony by playing “Taps.” The evening’s events continued with music and fireworks.
