Stephen Kemp
Mr. Stephen Hoyt Kemp, age 70, of Union City passed away from this life on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Union City Health & Rehabilitation.
Funeral services for Mr. Kemp will be conducted on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 4 p.m. in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home, with Bro. Hobart Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford Cemetery.
Mr. Kemp was born May 25, 1955, in Union City, the son of the late Waite Hoyt and Thelma Louise Graves Kemp. He retired from Goodyear and attended Rutherford Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Kemp; three children, Kristen Melanie Kemp, Jonathan Stephen (Heather) Kemp and Shelly Sloan (Justin) Hobbs; siblings, Sandra MaGee, Libby (Tim) Faulkner and Dr. William Jeffrey (Lisa) Kemp; four grandchildren, Reece (Lauren) McClanahan, Jon Nicholas Kemp, Tyler Blake Smith and Warner Levi Hobbs; great-grandson, Neyland Cole Guinn; and one-on-the-way, Miller June McClanahan. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Royce MaGee.
Pallbearers are Reece McClananhan, Jon Nicholas Kemp, Tyler Blake Smith, Levi Hobbs, Justin Hobbs and Jackie VanCleave. Honorary pallbearers are his cherished friends and longtime coworkers from Goodyear.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 1 p.m. until service time at the Rutherford chapel. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Stephen Hoyt Kemp.
