Katie Young
Mrs. Catherine Augusta “Katie” Young, 89, of Union City passed away 7:56 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2026, at Magnolia Place in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Father Carl Gregorich will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Danny Wall, Joe Wall, Steve Emrich, Tim Wright, Clint Workman and Cory Workman.
Katie was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Paducah, Ky., daughter of the late Wilfred O. and Rosa (Lattus) Kaufman. She married Jason O. Young Sr. April 8, 1978. He preceded her in death Feb. 6, 2012. Katie had been employed by the former Bell South Telephone Company and retired from AT&T. She enjoyed quilting, needlework and working puzzles. Katie was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Pat McCarver and Cheryl Workman (Ronnie L.), all of Union City; five grandchildren, Missy Emrich (Steve) and Tim Wright (Windy), all of Union City, Clint Workman (Emily) and Cory Workman (Kaitlyn), all of South Fulton, and Kayce Workman of Union City; five great-grandchildren, Gage Wright of Union City and Grayson Workman, Rhett Workman, Langston Workman and Granger Workman, all of South Fulton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her stepson, Jason O. “Buddy” Young Jr.; one stepson-in-law, Mike McCarver; four sisters, Doris Martynak, Margaret Wall, Louise Williams and Pat Cooley; and three brothers, Father Vincent Kaufman, Raymond Kaufman and James Brice.
