Elizabeth Guess

Elizabeth Ann McDaniel Guess passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Elizabeth was born Oct. 3, 1946, in McNairy County to Ruby May Killingsworth McDaniel and Roy Lester McDaniel. As a teen, she and her family relocated to Union City where she met and later married Mike Guess on May 8, 1965. He passed away April 17, 2021.
She was a member of Bethlehem Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She worked for Salant & Salant and Obion Denton in Union City. She retired in the late ’80s. At which time she took her love for plants to the next level. At most any time she could be found working in flower beds keeping them in immaculate condition or taking care of her Koi fish in her pond. She raised African Violets, day lilies and orchids up until her final days.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Michelle Guess Ursery; and her grandson, Addison Ursery and his wife, Ashli Mensi Ursery. She also has a great-granddaughter due to arrive late April. Though she will not get to see her in this life, she will definitely be able to watch over her from heaven.
She is also survived by three sisters, Mary Hall, Regina Pittman and Betty Ferrell, as well as nieces, Angie Burress, Brooke Ferrell and McClay Ferrell; nephews, Dion McDaniel, Chad Walley and Chet Walley; and many great- and great-great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin McDaniel; and nephew, Tony McDaniel.
Per the decedents wishes, White-Ranson will be in charge of her cremation and there will be no services.
