Union City native Robinson joining Dolphins’ front office
Jon Robinson is headed to Miami.
The former Union City High School football player who climbed the front office ranks in the NFL, ultimately being named the general manager of the Tennessee Titans, has accepted a position with the Miami Dolphins.
Multiple news outlets are reporting that Robinson will be joining the Dolphins’ front office as a senior personnel executive.
It marks his return to an NFL front office position since the Titans fired him as GM in December 2022.
He joins Dolphins’ first-year general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan’s front office staff in an advisory role, according to the reports.
Robinson was hired as the Titans’ general manager on Jan. 14, 2016, and served seven seasons in that role. The Titans were 66-48 in that span, reaching the AFC playoffs four times.
Prior to joining the Titans, he served two years a director of player personnel for the Tampa bay Buccaneers and 12 seasons with the New England Patriots as an area scout, regional scout and eventually director of college scouting (2009-13).
Following a standout prep career as a lineman for Union City, Robinson signed with the U.S. Air Force Academy before transferring to Southeast Missouri State.
When his collegiate playing career ended, Robinson served one year as a coach at SEMO and three seasons at Nicholls State, including one season as the linebackers coach.
A 1994 graduate of Union City High School, he played on three state playoff teams. He was named The Messenger’s Prep Player of the Year and earned All-State honors in 1993. The Golden Tornadoes had an overall record of 39-7 in his four seasons.
