Linnie Burns
Linda Gail “Linnie” Rives Burns, 79, passed away peacefully on Feb. 18, 2026, at The Arbors in Union City.
She was born Dec. 16, 1946, in Union City to Clifford Hale and Martha Davidson Rives.
Linnie married Joseph B. Burns June 21, 1970. He survives.
She earned a degree in Psychology from Memphis State University and later her Masters from The University of Alabama-Birmingham in Guidance and Counseling. Prior to her career in Social Work, Linnie spent two years with Delta Airlines as a stewardess. Then she began the work she loved with Brandon Nursing Home in Brandon, Miss. She then continued her love of helping others at Baptist Children’s Home, where she nurtured many children over the years.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Easley and Anna Crocker; and one brother, Bob Rives.
There will be no public service.
