Sheila Thornton, 70, of Union City passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy. Brother Tommy Stewart will officiate.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Sheila was born Oct. 10, 1955, in Fort Smith, Ark., daughter of the late Vic Larocco and the late Ellen Jane (Hinkle) Kennedy. An avid animal lover, Sheila was the operator of Sheila’s Animal Rescue. She had been employed at Kohler and the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Gray and husband, Shane, of Troy; three grandchildren, Chase Truett of Hornbeak, Alyssa McElroy and husband, Justin, of Puryear and Austin Gray and wife, Jordan, of Martin; two great-grandchildren, Landon McElroy of Puryear and Dakota Gray of Martin; two sisters, Corrine Kennedy of Union City and Nakita Clark of Arkansas; and two brothers, Carl Kennedy of Trimble and Johnny Kennedy and wife, Mary Beth, of Troy.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Kevin Sullivan; one sister, Jo Ellen Faught; and one brother, James Edward Kennedy.
