James Lyons
James Dale Lyons, age 82, of Obion gained his angel wings on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today, Sept. 2, 2025, at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today, Sept. 2, at Cryer Funeral Home and continue until the hour of service at 4 p.m. Bro. Rick Roberts will officiate with burial to follow in the Rosehill Cemetery in Obion.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Lyons, Larry Don Miller, Peyton Lyons, Ethan Lyons, William Shipp and Tim Capps. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Walton, Brad Walton, Donnie Walton, Larry Ladd and Eugene Hudgins.
Mr. Lyons was born in Obion on April 6, 1943, the son of the late Floyd and Margie (Scobey) Lyons. He was an employee of the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, where he worked in the banbury department, a member of First Baptist Church in Troy and a United States Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Kay (Miller) Lyons of Obion; two sons, Kevin (Melissa Terrett) Lyons of Hornbeak and Jason Lyons of Obion and his fiancée, Tammy Buress Walker, of Dyer; three grandchildren, Ashley (William) Shipp of McKenzie, Peyton (Alexis) Lyons of Halls and Ethan (Sarah Langford) Lyons of Hornbeak; and five great-grandchildren, Parker Lyons of Chattanooga, Presley Shipp of McKenzie and Will Shipp of McKenzie, Hazel Lyons of Halls and Hadley Lyons of Hornbeak.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and her husband, Jeane and Billy Swinney.
