James Simpson

Mr. James Simpson, 84, of Union City passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at The Waters of Union City following a year-long illness.   
A memorial visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, June 20, 2025, followed by a memorial service at noon.
James retired from cotton and soybean farming in the Mississippi Delta in 2000 and came to Union City in 2001. He was employed at Searcy Real Estate and at the Education Department at Discovery Park of America.
He had a gentleman’s heart and was well thought of by all his friends and family. He enjoyed deer and duck hunting and his special lifelong hobby of model airplane building and flying. He graduated from Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Miss., and attended Mississippi State and Delta State Universities. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and the Union City Modelers.
James is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nita Arnold Simpson; two sons, Steven Simpson and his wife, Angie, of Boyle, Miss., and Brady Simpson and his wife, Robin, of Hernando, Miss.; and a daughter, Mary Audra Smith and her husband, Bill, of Milan; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Family suggests that any memorials be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
