Sam Hunter

Samuel Odell “Sam” Hunter, 64, of Union City passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, in Water Valley, Ky. 
Born on Feb. 3, 1961, in East St. Louis, Ill., he was the son of the late James A. and Sarah (Schembra) Hunter.
He had been employed by the Obion County School System and the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Sam attended Pentecostal Tabernacle in Water Valley and was a Mason. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and riding his Harley-Davidson. Sam was a United States Navy veteran.
Sam is survived by one son, Bobby J. Hunter and wife, Hannah, of South Fulton; one daughter, Surina Jones and husband, John, of Bells; one granddaughter, Avery Hunter of Union City; two grandsons; two sisters, Mary J. Fowler and Charlotte Willett, both of Union City; four brothers, Louis Hunter of Kentucky, Loyd Hunter of the Shawtown community, Rickey Hunter of Arkansas and Freddie Hunter of the Clayton community; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Elizabeth Jeanette Cartwright, Louise Walker, Ruby Mae Bondurant, Mildred Higgins and Margie Hunter; and three brothers, Thomas J. Hunter, Alfred “Buddy” Hunter and AJ Hunter.
Memorial visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
