RISING WATER
RISING WATER — The east side of Kenton saw weekend flooding starting Saturday that resulted in residents on the Obion River side of the railroad tracks being evacuated, with the Kenton Fire Department reporting the Rutherford fork of the river levee had been breached. Several streets were flooded and Highway 89 was blocked by floodwater on the city’s east side next to Farmers Co-Op. With the flooding, the city’s sewer system was starting to be overwhelmed and residents were asked to use water conservatively until flooding receded and the sewer system could catch up. Water continued to rise all day Sunday before finally beginning to recede over the past couple days. Photo courtesy of Kenton Fire Department via Facebook
